Stories from my Uber days

I drive Uber. I meet all kinds of people. Mostly good. Some bad. On this page I will post stories and thoughts from my Uber driving days. Have fun reading.

Anna and the $50,000 Cartier bracelet

I was reminded of my very 2nd Uber rider - Anna and her $50,000 Cartier bracelet.

My very first day doing Uber. The first rider was very nice. He was waiting outside when I picked him up. We chatted along the way about how I'm he's my first rider and whatever. Dropped him off at the destination, 5 stars.

Off to my second rider - Anna.

I waited outside her place - for at least 5 minutes, not sure if I had the right address or if she's coming or what.

Eventually, a woman came out of the apartment units. Wasn't sure if it was "Anna" because she didn't acknowledge me.

She just walked up to my car, got in the back, told me she's going to the city and that's it. Obviously I was her chauffeur. Yes Ma'am.

I let her be as she said she was a busy woman, had lots to do so she's going to continue working. OK I respect that.

She then started calling someone, from work, presumably because she started going off about the email from so-and-so was over the top and was un-called for. Obviously having a bad day at work.

She talked about how the team should be fired, so-and-so's salary slashed from $8,000 a month to $6,000, and keep another woman because of her intellectual property.

Then she lowered her voice: "Hey, guess what? JP gave me a $50,000 Cartier bracelet yesterday! Yeah, and I'm going to Cartier to change for a bigger one! Hahaha!"

Lady, we're in a Honda Civic...there's only the two of us...What's the point lowering your voice, I can STILL hear you!?

She said "Yeah, he said it's in appreciation of the work I've done." (I think the guy is expecting something else in addition to "appreciation"!)

Then she said "I thought of writing him an email to say 'Dear JP, received the loveliest gift the other day....blah blah blah...Thank you. Warmest regards,' What do you think? Does that sound alright?"

The guy gave you a $50,000 bracelet and you're sending him an EMAIL?!?!?!

We reached the city and she got out of the car and ran off.

I never found out what she exchanged the bracelet for, or if she sent that email, or if JP got laid.

Ah...the unsolved mysteries of Uber rides!
