Restaurants I recommend

imdb

I love food. I love photography. I take photos of the food I eat at restaurants to practise as food photography is considered quite difficult.

The other reason I am writing this, in addition to sharing with others of the good (or bad) restaurants I’ve visited, is to remind me of what I had so that I can order (or NOT order) the food again next time.

I am not paid to write for the restaurants so I can only sample the dishes via multiple visits. The photos will therefore change over time as I take better pictures and try new dishes.

Hope you enjoy them.

Yum cha is popular in Australia. You can have yum cha almost everywhere.

But good yum cha places are a little bit hard to find.

Good yum cha means: wide variety, delicious, tasty (authentic) food dim sums.

There are plenty of places offering yum cha in Chatswood. There's even a famous one.

But from what I've heard, the only good thing people rave about that (famous one) restaurant's food is a particular type of buns.

Just because there's a big crowd doesn't mean it's a good yum cha place.

So if you want to go yum cha, and Chatswood is not out of the way for you, you should visit Fortune Place.

From the piggy (豬肚)

From the cow (牛肚)

From the chickens (鳳爪)

Pot Stickers (煎餃)

Prawns Rice Paper Rolls (蝦腸)

Calamari Whiskers (魷魚鬚)

Pan-Fried Rice Paper Rolls (煎腸粉)

Yum cha is never complete without:

Siu Mai (燒賣)

And:

Har Gao (蝦餃)

Thousand Year Old Egg and Pork Congee (皮蛋廋肉粥)

Turnip Cake (蘿蔔糕)

Spring Rolls (春卷)

The boring stuff:

This is probably not the BEST yum cha place in Sydney, but it's one of our favourites.

The food is pretty good, with enough variety to keep us interested.

It's located in the Mandarin Centre, so there's a three-hour free parking under the building.

It's also easy to get to by train. Just get to Chatswood Station, walk down Victoria Ave and you'll be there in 5 minutes.
